Tableau Software Co-founder Elected to The American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Pat Hanrahan Joins Distinguished Class of Scholars, Scientists, and Civic Leaders.

SEATTLE, May 31, 2007 – Tableau Software, the global leader in visual analysis software, today announced that Tableau Co-founder and CTO Pat Hanrahan has been elected to the 2007 Class of Fellows by The American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Academy was established in 1780 by John Adams, James Bowdoin, John Hancock, and other American leaders "to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honour, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people. The announcement was made at the Academy’s headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

The membership of the Academy encompasses 4,000 Fellows and 600 Foreign Honorary Members and reflects the full range of disciplines: mathematics, the physical and biological sciences, medicine, the social sciences and humanities, business, government, public affairs, and the arts. Among its Fellows are more than 160 Nobel Prize laureates and 50 Pulitzer Prize winners. Nomination to the Academy is a privilege restricted to the Fellowship."It was my enormous privilege to nominate Pat for inclusion in this illustrious group," said Dr. Ed Lazowska, the Bill & Melinda Gates Chair in Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Lazowska is also a Fellow of The American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
