Tableau Software’s First-Ever Customer Conference a Success
Customers and Partners Gain New Insights about Data Visualization at Sold-Out Event
SEATTLE, Wash. – July 29, 2008 – Tableau Software® (http://www.tableausoftware.com), the global leader in fast analytics and visualization software, today announced the successful completion of its first-ever Customer Conference. During the event, which took place on July 20-22 at Seattle’s Edgewater Hotel, nearly 200 professionals gathered from a wide variety of industries, including technology, manufacturing, accounting and higher education. With opportunities to learn from their peers and gain insight from Tableau employees, attendees also previewed Tableau 4.0, the newest version of the company’s award-winning Tableau Desktop (http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/desktop) and Tableau Server (http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/server) applications.
The demonstration of Tableau 4.0 was among the most popular sessions at the conference. The new versions of Desktop and Server include one-click analytical map creation, usability enhancements and capabilities to embed and share live Tableau views with other applications such as Web applications, intranets and documents. Information about Tableau 4.0 can be viewed at http://www.tableausoftware.com/tableau4.
“Tableau's innovations have been critical to our work product from day one of using the software,” said Sy Dimitroff, business analyst, Sun Microsystems. “It is extremely user friendly while being powerful and beautiful at the same time. After attending the Tableau 4.0 demonstration, I can easily see how it will streamline our work even further. The new mapping feature will take our current mapping processes from days to minutes while providing better geographical visuals than we do today. We are excited to implement the new version.”
Attendee feedback regarding the sold-out conference was resoundingly positive: “Spending the majority of three days surrounded by fellow Tableau users—as well as some of the brightest minds in visual analytics—was educational, fun and ultimately a very rewarding experience,” said Steve Wexler, director of research and emerging technologies for The eLearning Guild. “My only complaint was that it wasn’t long enough. I’ve been to many conferences, and this was by far one of the best. It was very well-planned and well-run with excellent content.”
Conference sessions included keynotes from visualization expert Stephen Few and Tableau CTO Professor Pat Hanrahan, as well as workshops, help sessions and advanced training sessions from Tableau’s development team. “Overall, Tableau’s first Customer Conference was a great success,” said Elissa Fink, vice president of marketing at Tableau Software. “The opportunity to meet face-to-face with our customers and hear about all of the interesting and innovative ways they’re using Tableau was extremely valuable. Based on the enthusiasm surrounding this conference, we expect next year’s event to grow exponentially, and we look forward to reconvening with our users next summer.”
